Ti Top – Soi Sim Team Swiftly Returns Lost Property to Tourist

On February 13, the Ti Top – Soi Sim Task Force under the Management Department of the World Heritage Site discovered a black handbag while on duty in the island area.

A careful inspection revealed a significant amount of cash inside, totaling VND 8,013,000 in cash (including 16 notes of VND 500,000, 18 notes of VND 200,000 and VND 13,000 in smaller denominations), along with foreign currency comprising three USD 100 notes, ten USD 50 notes, eight USD 20 notes, thirty-four USD 10 notes, two USD 1 notes, and 15,000 KRW.

The banknotes were counted and documented by the task force during the preparation of the official report.

Immediately after the discovery, the task force drew up an official report and broadcast announcements through the public address system to vessels anchored around Ti Top Island. The information was also forwarded to the Ha Long Cruise Association and the leadership of the Management Department to coordinate efforts to locate the owner.

Approximately one hour later, following the timely dissemination of information, a passenger from the cruise vessel Tung Duong 36 returned to Ti Top Island to claim the misplaced wallet. The owner was identified as Mr. Lee Chang Min, a visitor from the Republic of Korea. After receiving his belongings in full, he expressed his appreciation and conveyed sincere thanks to the Ti Top – Soi Sim Task Force and the Management Department of Ha Long Bay – Yen Tu World Heritage Site.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuan, Head of the Ti Top – Soi Sim Team, handed over the recovered property to Mr. Lee Chang Min on behalf of the task force.

This was not the first time heritage protection staff have found and returned lost property to visitors. From small personal items such as glasses and hats to valuables and important documents, all belongings are carefully safeguarded and every effort is made to return them to their rightful owners. Regardless of value, each successful return brings not only joy to the visitor but also a sense of pride to those dedicated to protecting the heritage site.

Beyond preserving and promoting the outstanding values of the World Heritage Site, staff members also help safeguard the legitimate property and interests of visitors. Such responsible and commendable actions continue to reinforce the image of Ha Long Bay as a safe, friendly and increasingly trusted destination among both domestic and international travelers.
