Conducting a field survey of the Ha Long Bay – Bai Tu Long Bay connectivity route

On 7 January, the Ha Long Bay – Yen Tu World Heritage Management Unit organised a field survey to collect key data in support of developing a scheme for the protection and sustainable utilisation of Ha Long Bay World Heritage, in connection with Bai Tu Long Bay.
This activity represents a strategic step towards expanding the spatial framework for sustainable tourism development while safeguarding the interlinked heritage values of the region.

During the survey, the delegation collected information and conducted on-site assessments of the current status of protection and utilization of the World Heritage values of Ha Long Bay, the Bai Tu Long Bay area, and Bai Tu Long National Park. The team gathered data, statistics and visual materials, while identifying areas and sites with potential for future development. The field survey serves as an important foundation for the formulation of the project on the protection and sustainable utilization of the World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay, in close linkage with Bai Tu Long Bay.

The integration of the two bays will not only help ease pressure on the core area of the Ha Long Bay World Heritage site, but also create a continuous tourism corridor, diversifying visitor experiences ranging from high-end resort tourism to eco-tourism and the exploration of maritime and island cultural values.

It is expected that in March 2026, the Ha Long Bay – Yen Tu World Heritage Management Department will submit to the Provincial People’s Committee the project on the protection and sustainable utilization of the Ha Long Bay World Heritage site, in linkage with Bai Tu Long Bay.
