Introduction to the Management Board of Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Site

In 1994, Ha Long Bay was recognized as a World Natural Heritage Site. Nearly a year later, on December 9, 1995, the Ha Long Bay Management Board was officially established as an agency under the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, responsible for comprehensively managing conservation, restoration, enhancement, and promotion of the heritage value of Ha Long Bay.

 

On November 10, 2025, the Ha Long Bay - Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board was established according to Decision No. 4166/QD-UBND dated November 1, 2025, of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, based on the merger and reorganization of the Ha Long Bay Management Board, the Bai Tu Long National Park Management Board, and the Management Board of Historical Sites and Scenic Spots under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

 

The Management Board of the Ha Long Bay – Yen Tu World Heritage Site is a public service unit under the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee. It functions as an advisory body assisting the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee in carrying out the management, protection, conservation, scientific research, restoration, renovation, rehabilitation, promotion, and sustainable use of the values of natural landscapes, culture, history, geology and geomorphology, and biodiversity. It also organizes tourism and service activities within the areas of the Ha Long Bay World Natural Heritage Site; the Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac Complex of Monuments and Scenic Landscapes World Cultural Heritage Site in Quang Ninh Province (including the Yen Tu Complex of Monuments and Scenic Landscapes, the Tran Dynasty Special National Monument Area, and the Bach Dang Special National Historical Relic Complex); and Bai Tu Long National Park – an ASEAN Heritage Park.
