Exploring Bo Hon Island
Bo Hon Island is located in the heart of Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Covering an area of approximately 3.8 square kilometers, it is one of the largest islands in the Bay. The island is home to many of Ha Long's most famous caves, such as Sung Sot (Surprise) Cave, Ho Dong Tien Cave, Luon Cave, Trinh Nu (Virgin) Cave, Trong (Drum) Cave, and Bo Nau Cave. Bo Hon is also rich in unique plant species native to Ha Long, including the Ha Long Cycad, Ha Long Ginger, and Ha Long Palm.
To explore Bo Hon Island, visitors can purchase ticket route No. 2 of the Ha Long Bay tour. This journey offers unforgettable experiences such as venturing into mysterious caves with fascinating stalactites and stalagmites resembling vivid natural sculptures, gliding through the emerald waters on a bamboo boat or kayaking while admiring the picturesque landscape of mountains and sea, photographing golden monkeys on the island, or cooling off in the crystal-clear waters on a hot summer day.
Some of the top attractions to experience when visiting Bo Hon Island include:

Sung Sot Cave (Surprise Cave):
This is a must-see destination that no visitor to Ha Long Bay should miss. Covering an area of up to 10,000 square meters, it is the largest cave currently open to tourists in the bay. With a dramatic "narrow-wide" structure and stunning natural formations, Sung Sot Cave continuously surprises visitors with its impressive and awe-inspiring scenery.
Ho Dong Tien Cave (Fairy Lake Cave):
Inside this cave, delicately carved stalactites resemble intricate royal palaces, crafted by nature over thousands of years. One of the cave’s most remarkable features is the hidden "Fairy Lake" - a clear, emerald pool nestled deep within the island, surrounded by towering cliffs and lush vegetation. Secluded from the outside world, the lake exudes a peaceful, mysterious charm.
Luon Cave:
Tucked inside a tranquil lagoon with crystal-clear water, Luon Cave features a natural archway carved through the base of a mountain. As your boat gently drifts through the low cave entrance, the view opens into a serene, mirror-like pool surrounded by vertical cliffs. The cool air, echoing water drops, and untouched environment create a pure, peaceful natural setting.
Trinh Nu Cave (Virgin Cave):
This beautiful cave boasts a wide-open space and untouched, mysterious surroundings. Stalactites hang from the ceiling like chandeliers, while at the cave's entrance lies a large stalagmite resembling a girl with long flowing hair, gazing longingly toward the sea - the source of the cave’s legendary and romantic name.
Trong Cave (Drum Cave):
Spacious and grand, the cave interior appears bathed in a soft purplish-blue hue, lending it an air of elegance and serenity. From within, clusters of silver-grey stalactites hang prominently against the vast backdrop of Ha Long Bay, creating a natural painting full of dramatic light and shadow contrasts.
Bo Nau Cave:
With an area of around 1,000 square meters, Bo Nau Cave is divided into two chambers. In front of the cave lies a stunning landscape of lush green mountains and a calm, glistening sea, resembling a scene from a dreamlike traditional landscape painting.
