Ha Long Bay Management Department Union organizes the 2025 Swimming and Sea First Aid Competition

On September 20, the Ha Long Bay Management Department organized the 14th Swimming and Sea First Aid Competition in 2025.

The swimming competition was divided into two categories. The first category included leaders of units (without age groups) competing in two events: 50m freestyle for men and 50m freestyle for women. The second category included staff and workers, divided into age groups and competing in five events: men aged 50 and above – 50m freestyle; men aged 40-49 – 50m freestyle; men aged 30-39 – 100m freestyle; and women without age grouping – 50m freestyle.

In the sea first aid competition, each department’s trade union formed a team of four athletes competing in events such as rescuing drowning victims onto a boat; transporting victims from the boat to the shore; performing artificial respiration using a resuscitation bag and external chest compressions; and applying wound bandaging and leg fracture immobilization techniques.

Results: The Organizing Committee awarded First Prize to the Trade Union of Conservation Center II; Second Prize to the Trade Union of the Ha Long Bay Violation Inspection and Handling Team – Rescue Center; Third Prize to the Ha Long Bay Tourism Management Center; and the Encouragement Prize to the Trade Union of Conservation Center I.

During the competition, 11 employees who had not previously been tested for swimming ability or were newly recruited were also evaluated to ensure they meet the swimming requirements necessary for their professional duties.

Given that most employees work in marine and island environments and serve tourists visiting Ha Long Bay, organizing the annual swimming and sea first aid competition not only aims to improve union activities, promote sports and physical training, foster a lively competitive spirit, and encourage productive labor to fulfill assigned tasks; but also enhances swimming and rescue skills to better serve visitors and ensure the safety of employees while performing their duties.
