Handing over one case of illegal fisheries exploitation to Hon Gai Port Border Guard Station

In accordance with the 2025 plan for patrol, supervision, inspection of socio-economic activities, and violation handling in Ha Long Bay, on June 3, during a coordinated patrol, the forces of the Ha Long Bay Management Department detected one fishing vessel operating illegally in the core zone of the Heritage Site.

The use of prohibited fishing gear can cause serious damage to the marine ecosystem, destroy small and juvenile fish, and lead to a decline in aquatic species populations.

During the inspection process, the Ha Long Bay Management Department issued a violation record against Mr. Nguyễn Tiến Long, residing in Area 11, Ha An, Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province. He is the owner and operator of the fishing vessel bearing registration number QN-0443-TS, which was found using prohibited fishing gear (long trawl nets) to exploit aquatic resources in the Soi Den area of Ha Long Bay (within the core zone of the Heritage Site).

The forces of the Ha Long Bay Management Department and Hon Gai Port Border Guard Station are currently working with the vessel owner.

The authorities have instructed Mr. Long to immediately cease the illegal fishing activities and move the vessel to Ben Doan Port to hand over the case files to the Hon Gai Port Border Guard Station for handling according to their authority.
