Coordinating the handling of unauthorized recreational vehicles on Ha Long Bay

On April 9th and 11th, 2025, during checking on the Bay, the Ha Long Bay Violation Handling and Inspection Team, in coordination with the Waterway Police Team and the Traffic Police Department of Quang Ninh Provincial Police (referred to collectively as the inter-agency task force), detected and handled three vessels illegally transporting tourists for squid fishing on Ha Long Bay.

The authorities inspected the vehicles while they were transporting tourists on their way to squid fishing.

On the evening of April 9th, at the area of Ha Long International Cruise Port (Bai Chay Ward), the inter-agency task force discovered and dealt with two wooden boats transporting tourists for squid fishing on Ha Long Bay. Later, at 9:00 PM on April 11th, in the Mo Sea area (Hon Gai Ward), the task force continued to detect and handle one motorized boat transporting passengers for night squid fishing.

Most of the vehicles did not comply with the regulations.

Upon inspection, it was found that the vehicles did not meet safety standards, environmental hygiene requirements, and lacked life-saving and rescue equipment. The task force proceeded to document the violations, temporarily confiscated the documents, and instructed the vessels to move to the Ben Doan port so that tourists could disembark safely. The violating vessels are currently being held at Ben Doan port, awaiting further action in accordance with current regulations.

To ensure the safety and security of tourists, especially during the peak holiday period of April 30th and May 1st, the Ha Long Bay Violation Handling and Inspection Team will continue to coordinate with relevant authorities to strengthen patrols and controls on Ha Long Bay, taking decisive actions to strictly enforce regulations regarding inland waterway traffic safety.
