Titles of Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay is one of the famous scenic spots in Vietnam with special appeal to national and international tourists. With its potential and strengths favored by nature, Ha Long Bay has received many proud titles.

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ha Long Bay being recognized as a World Natural Heritage, we would like to introduce THE TITLES OF HA LONG BAY.

NATIONAL TITLE 

National scenic relic: In 1962, Ha Long Bay was ranked as a national scenic relic by the Ministry of Culture - Information, now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, with an area of ​​1,553 square meters. 

Received the title of Special National Monument

Special National Monument: On August 12^th, 2009, Ha Long Bay was ranked as a Special National Monument by the Vietnamese Government (first phase, 2009).

Vietnam's Leading Tourist Area: On July 8^th, 2017, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism awarded the title of Vietnam's Leading Tourist Area 2017 to Ha Long Bay. 

Vietnam's Leading Tourist Destination: On July 9^th, 2018, the General Department of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) announced the list of Vietnam's leading destinations in the first half of 2018. Topping the list is Ha Long Bay.

INTERNATIONAL TITLE

World Natural Heritage

Ha Long Bay has been twice recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage.

- On December 17^th, 1994, at the 18th Session in Phuket, Thailand, the World Heritage Committee recognized Ha Long Bay as a World Natural Heritage with outstanding universal aesthetic value according to criterion (vii) of the International Convention for the Protection of the World's Natural and Cultural Heritage.

- On December 2^nd, 2000, at the 24th Plenary Session in Cairns, Queensland, Australia, the World Heritage Committee recognized Ha Long Bay as a World Natural Heritage for the second time according to criterion (viii) on geological and geomorphological values.

The most beautiful Bay in the world: Ha Long Bay is one of the three founding members and has participated in the World's Most Beautiful Bays Club since March 1997

New Natural Wonder of the World

On April 27^th, 2012, at My Dinh Stadium (Hanoi, Vietnam), the New Open World organization awarded the title of New Natural Wonder of the World to Ha Long Bay.
