Tien Ong Cave
The cave is located in Deu cave, about 18 km from Tuan Chau International Marina, 16,5 km from Ha Long International Passenger Port. Its structure is relatively complex with many small niches, beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Especially, in the cave, there is a stalagmite looking like an old man with a gentle face, long hair and beard. It is considered an image of a miraculous “fairy godfather” by the local people. That is why the cave is called “Tien Ong” (meaning “fairy godfather” in English).
Through artifacts excavated in the cave, historians identified that Tien Ong cave was one of the habitats of ancient Viet people in early Neolithic period with Soi Nhu culture dating back 10,000 – 8,000 years ago. Coming here, tourists can see remnants of prehistoric life in the cave such as: shells of freshwater snails, mountain snails or rough stone and bone tools.
