Luon Cave

Luon cave is a destination in the tourism route 2 in Ha Long Bay, located in the Northeast of Bo Hon island, about 13 km from Tuan Chau International Marina and 11 km from Ha Long International Passenger Port. Luon cave is a specially attractive destination. The cave has the shape of a tunnel with the submerged ground. Deep inside the cave is a small lake; the cave is the connecting passage between the sea and the lake. This lake is surrounded by arc-shaped steep cliffs. To enter the lake, tourists must travel by bamboo boat or kayak.
Visiting the cave on high tide days, tourists will find it interesting when they have to crouch on boats to pass through the submerged ground to enter the lake. This is probably why Ha Long fishermen call it “Luon” (pass through) cave. Luon Cave is also home to yellow monkeys (mucaca Mulatta) with a number of several hundred individuals, divided into many different herds. They often appear and live in this area from the foot of the island to the mountainside. The excitement of monkeys has attracted the attention and curiosity of tourists.
Currently, Luon cave has become a familiar destination for tourists with rowing service to see golden monkeys.
